D.E.A.R - Drop Everything And Read day at Seth Woodard!

News & Announcements

Last Day of School

Friday, June 17th, is the last day of school. Parent pick up will be from 12:15-12:30pm. The office closes at 1:00pm for the summer.

Read-A-Rama in the Park!

We read and explore children’s books during camp
and then use the theme from the books for our camp
activities, crafts, music, and games! When you make
reading part of your summer, you set yourself up for
success in the coming school year.

Each weekly camp session covers the same material.
Please only register for one session (one week) of
camp. This allows for as many kids to experience
camp as possible.

In partnership with Spokane Valley Parks and Recreation.

Registration is required.

Seth Woodard's New Principal!

Seth Woodard parents and guardians,

We are incredibly excited to announce the selection of Tyrone Hoard as Seth Woodard’s new principal starting next school year!

Tyrone has been the Assistant Principal at Centennial Middle School for the last 7 years and is eager to start transitioning to Seth Woodard, which is his dream job. He will be visiting Seth periodically in the spring to get a kickstart with his transition into the principal position. Tyrone has already been meeting one on one with the Seth Woodard staff over the past several days and looks forward to getting to know you and your students.

Tyrone has an extensive background in education ranging from high school to elementary school. He started his career in education in 2000, working as a teacher in Las Vegas and then at Rogers High School in Spokane. He then accepted a position in Spokane Public Schools as a Principal Assistant at two elementary schools (Hamblen & Spokane Public Montessori) that contained Behavioral Intervention classrooms and a parent co-op model. West Valley was lucky enough to hire Tyrone as the Assistant Principal at Centennial Middle School, where he has spent the last 7 years of his career.

Fun facts about Tyrone! He is a father of 5 amazing kids and a grandfather of 1 new grandbaby. His wife is a teacher at Ridgeline High School and he owns 85 fabulous bowties! He is also a world traveler and a connoisseur of great food. He is incredibly excited to take on the role of Seth Woodard’s new principal and continue to support the incredible education of each and every Seth Woodard student.

Congratulations to Tyrone and to Seth Woodard on your new adventures together!

It's almost Toothsaver's Time!

Toothsavers is looking forward to visiting on May 17, 2022 for your schools' Spring oral health clinic.

We will be using the sign-up forms from our Fall visit to follow up with the same children but, want to be sure to extend the opportunity to new students as well. Parents may sign up on our website www.toothsaversofwashington.com

Our staff are in compliance with all state mandates. We also stay up to date on all CDC guidelines for PPE and infection control.

Thank you so much for your efforts and we look forward to providing oral health services at your school.

Dear 5th Grade Parents:

Push the Play Button!

Through the pandemic West Valley has put Beginning Band on pause while 5th grade Strings has been able to safely continue rehearsing and performing. The decision was made to continue 5th grade Strings but unfortunately Beginning Band is no longer offered in elementary.

It is time to push the play button and we are happy to invite all 5th grade students interested in Band to sign up for Beginning Band at Centennial Middle School starting next fall.

Since students did not have the opportunity to participate in 5th Grade Band the last two years (and they will no longer have that option), all students signing up for 6th Grade Beginning Band are true beginners and no experience is necessary. Google Forms have been emailed to all 5th grade parents to register for Performing and Fine Art Electives.

If you have any questions about Band or Percussion please do not hesitate to reach out to [email protected]
