PBIS Parent Information
Dear Parents,
Seth Woodard Elementary is a PBIS school! What is PBIS, you ask? PBIS stands for "Positive Behavior Intervention and Support" and it is a framework for encouraging positive behavior throughout our entire school. The goal of PBIS is to build positive relationships and teach respect for all students and staff at our school. Many of our staff members have been to professional development training on this and our school even has a PBIS Leadership Team that meets regularly to discuss how to implement PBIS strategies around the school!
One of the ways we are encouraging a positive environment around Seth is through our schoolwide expectations which are:
1. We are Respectful
2. We are Responsible
3. We are Safe
You will see these expectations posted throughout the school and hear them on our morning announcements every day. Our students and staff know them and strive to practice them in all areas of the building.
We have developed a 'matrix for positive behavior' which outlines exactly what "Respectful, Responsible and Safe" behavior looks like in every setting around the school.
You will be reading more about PBIS in upcoming newsletters and on school Facebook posts. We are also looking for a parent volunteer to join our PBIS Leadership Team so that we may get more community input and perspective. The team meets briefly on the first and third Thursdays of each month. Contact Mrs. Fried in the counseling office if you are interested in being a part of this team.
